Neal Estano

Neal joined the WBAL-TV 11 News Weather Team on September 11, 2000. Estano came from WRGB-TV in Albany, New York and previously was with WJXT-TV in Jacksonville, Florida as well as the Weather Channel.

Estano's interest in weather goes back to the 2nd grade. "I've been fascinated by weather since I was a kid," says Estano. "I always remember watching the weather closely and always wanting to know more about it. I'm glad to be able to do this for a living." In 1985, Estano earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from Lyndon State College in Vermont. He was certified with the American Meteorological Association and given their broadcast Seal of Approval.

Neal has spoken to numerous schools and organizations in Baltimore and especially enjoys children's reactions to his job. "They ask the best questions, some of them very funny," says Neal, "They have an intense interest in everything and are really excited to see someone "live" that they watch on TV." And what about the young man who did his science project on Neal's forecasting accuracy? "Well, 'How Good is Neal' was the topic of his science project. He charted my success with good numbers, luckily! " says Neal. "I am really enjoying providing weather information to the people in the Baltimore area and I guess I'll have to leave the "how good is Neal" question to the viewers!"

Neal enjoys snow skiing, cycling, fishing. His latest project is renovating his 1920s-era bungalow in Baltimore County where he lives with is son. He keeps an eye to the sky for the Baltimore viewing public mornings from 5am-10am.
