Michelle Butt has been News Director at WBAL-TV, since September of 2003. Before that she held the same position at WXII-TV, the Hearst-Argyle owned NBC affiliate in Winston-Salem, Greensboro, North Carolina.

Michelle began her television career as the “intern that wouldn’t leave”. Repeated internships at WAVY-TV, in Norfolk, Virginia, led to her first job; part-time sports producer. From sports, she moved into news at WAVY, producing first weekends, then the 5pm newscast. Shortly after arriving at WRAL-TV, in Raleigh, NC, Michelle was promoted from 11pm producer to Executive Producer. From there it was back to Norfolk, as Assistant News Director at WTKR-TV. Michelle joined Hearst-Argyle Television in July of 1998 when she was hired as Assistant News Director at WTAE-TV.

A native of Southeastern Virginia, Michelle is a graduate of Old Dominion University and is a member of RTNDA. She has severed boards for both non-profit and community agencies in both North Carolina and Maryland. The married mother of two is like most other moms; her kids are her hobby.
