Hope Upton died after being struck by a van while she was riding her bike at her grandmother’s home.

Her parents said that they’re trying to make something good come out of the tragic event by raising awareness on bike safety.

The Uptons said they repeatedly warned the girl to wear her helmet and to look out for cars.

The family has started a fund that would create a bike safety program at Hope’s school, Calvary Chapel Christian Academy in Severn.

Stacey and Andrew Upton said that their faith has seen them through the tragedy.

They said that they’ll always remember the little girl who loved life and who for weeks couldn't wait to get baptized, but died the day before it was suppose to happen.

Anyone who wishes to donate to the Hope Memorial Bike Safety Program can do so through the school. The address is Calvary Chapel Christian Academy, 8046 New Cut Road, Severn, MD 21144.

Hope's funeral will be held Thursday.

Her parents told the guests not to wear black, only bright colors.
